Are you on the Northern Beaches and need an arborist? But what type of arborist do you need? Arborists are known by several other names, including tree surgeons and tree loppers. An arborist is an expert on trees, shrubs and other woody plants.
What does an arborist do?
Arborists can assist in the maintenance and up keep of the trees on your property. This will help to minimise hazards and keep your favourite trees in good condition. By identifying any tree decay, tree disease or structural weakness on the trunk and throughout the canopy of the tree, hazards can be identified. Having an arborist regularly visit your property to remove dead branches is a good idea to allow light and air into your garden.
Can arborists remove trees?
If you are considering having a tree removed, an arborist can help. They can identify the species of tree, ascertain whether the tree is in poor health, dead or possibly predict whether it could fall, potentially causing injury to people or property. If the tree is a protected species, an application to your local council will be necessary before it can be removed. An arborists’ report is likely to be required to go along with the application. An arborists report can only be compiled by a level five consulting arborist. This report must be written by a consulting arborist who is independent of the company that will carry out the tree removal. It would be a conflict of interest for the same arborist to write the report that recommends a tree be removed and also take payment to remove the tree. Therefore council does not allow this.
Tree removal and Council approval
Once council approval has been received, a level three practicing arborist and a team of ground workers are able to carry out the work necessary to remove the tree. When selecting the right company for the job it is important to ensure that the chosen company is adequately insured for public liability and workers compensation. Tree work is a dangerous profession. By selecting a qualified arborist with plenty of experience and adequate insurance you are covered for any property damage to your own place and neighbouring houses. If the contractor that you hire is not adequately insured and someone is injured on your property, you may be liable.
