What does an arborist do?

Can arborists remove trees?

An arborists report can only be compiled by a level five consulting arborist. This report must be written by a consulting arborist who is independent of the company that will carry out the tree removal. It would be a conflict of interest for the same arborist to write the report that recommends a tree be removed and also take payment to remove the tree. Therefore council does not allow this.
Tree removal and Council approval
Once council approval has been received, a level three practicing arborist and a team of ground workers are able to carry out the work necessary to remove the tree. When selecting the right company for the job it is important to ensure that the chosen company is adequately insured for public liability and workers compensation. Tree work is a dangerous profession. By selecting a qualified arborist with plenty of experience and adequate insurance you are covered for any property damage to your own place and neighbouring houses. If the contractor that you hire is not adequately insured and someone is injured on your property, you may be liable.
